Valve was apparently close to being bought out by Google! That is, if you were one to believe a story posted by the Inquirer.
Thankfully, this rather far fetched rumor turned out to be nothing but a farce, a fabrication, fake.
The original story stated that "well placed sources tell us (The Inquirer) that Google is going to be buying Valve any second now." Well, the seconds ticked on by and cooler heads decided to get an answer straight from Valve themselves.
Issuing a quick response to MTV's Multiplayer Blog, Valve's Doug Lombardi confirmed that "Google isn't buying the company."
You can rest easy, Google ads won't be popping up in your Steam client any time soon.
