The iPhone, as a device, is in the same generation power-wise as the PS2 or Xbox," he says. "The graphics are a little lower but the RAM is a lot higher. … You could easily spend $10 million on an iPhone game, but the market just can't support that yet.Carmack did reveal that the iPhone title that is in development at id would be based of on an existing IP of the company (Doom, Quake, Wolfenstein), but would not specify which one. He is also a huge fan of the 10MB storage limit found on the iPhone, especially compared to the "sweet spot of traditional cellphone games" being at just 300KB. Perhaps we'll see a new Doom title appear on the iPhone in the near future.
