Sorry Australia, No Fallout 3 For You

Australia has refused to give classification to Fallout 3. What does this mean? It essentially means that the game is banned until Bethesda can trim the nasty content back to warrant a 15+ rating. That is assuming Bethesda wants to do that in the first place.
Many publishers have fallen foul of the strict classification system in Australia which does not grant games a rating above 15+, but allows movies to receive 18+ ratings.

Most recently, D3P's Dark Sector was finally cleared for sale in the region after receiving a series of cuts to content.
For a game that is going to have a huge theme centered around drugs and addiction, cutting back enough content might not even make the game worth a purchase if it's ever released there. The rest of the world probably won't experience any content being removed from the final product.

If only they included more nudity and swearing, I'm sure that would have balanced it out for the Australian audience.

Australia is reaching the pinnacle of a Nanny culture. Why dont they just legislate enforcement of blinders for children so they will only see what their heads are directly pointed at. Or even better what was that chip called that Cartman had in his brain? V-Chip?

Those children whose parents (and now the government) will not allow them access to materials and media with realistic problems and issues involved, are only setting those children up for problems later in life. It has been proven (The BBC did a 25 year study) that overprotection of and disconnection from the real problems that life has at a young age only leads to those young people getting more heavily involved in the very problems those stupid parents worked so hard to never let their children see.
