Day of Defeat: Source Moves to Orange Box

The Day of Defeat: Source update is now LIVE! Out of BETA and onto your original game, the update introduces the world of Day of Defeat: Source with the Orange Box engine, includes 51 achievements, and includes a number of gameplay fixes and tweaks.
Leveraging the recently released set of free services available in Steamworks, the Palermo Update adds 51 achievements to Day of Defeat: Source, player avatar displays in the scoreboard and win panel, and detailed player statistics that are integrated with the Steam Community features (www.steamcommunity.com).

In addition, this update adds support for popular features introduced in Valve's Team Fortress 2 (TF2), the PC title named multiplayer game of the year by Gamespy.com and PC Gamer. These include "nemesis/revenge" freeze cam and new effects driven by the particle system introduced to the Source engine for TF2.

Finally, this update also introduces a new map, Palermo, which is a remix of the most popular community map, dod_salerno, originally created by Magnar "insta" Jennsen.
You can grab this update via a Steam client near you.[break="original"]The BETA for Day of Defeat: Source will be coming to a close tonight. In its place will be a major release for non-BETA Day of Defeat: Source. This update will include all of the changes made in the BETA, including the massive switch over of the game to the Orange Box engine.

According to the HLDS mailing list, the update will be live within an hour. I'll update the news as it comes across my inbox.

Yea I saw this when I opened Steam. Pretty freakin cool! Might have to invest in DoD:S like I did for TF2 after free weekend. GJ Valve.

As far as I understand, the Orange Box engine supports dual core, but the support is limited to the enhanced particle effects engine being offloaded onto the 2nd core. No idea when they'll introduce the dynamic, scaling core usage they talked about some time ago.

I want to reinstall DODS, and Dark Messiah too, but seeing as Steam is taking 45GB of my 74GB boot drive I have no space...

what about Quad core support, i tried the dual core support which is not on by default by the way this is how you activate it, put this in your autoexec.cfg

              //Dual Core Support

              mat_queue_mode "2"

              r_threaded_renderables "1"

              r_threaded_particles "1"

              r_threaded_client_shadow_manager "1"

              cl_threaded_bone_setup "1"

              cl_threaded_client_leaf_system "1"

anyway this made my TF2 crash an some maps dunno why maybe cause i have quad core?

i got an amd 9850 X4 Phenom, an 9800gx2, tbh i dont actually see any diff with the dualcore on or off, maybe seems better off on my system.

is DOD:S still available in high street or online shops?? UK. i dont seem to be able to find it odd as i saw it few months back but now its nowhere to be seen.

i will deff buy DOD:S as i liked dod so it be something else to play instead of cs which is getting boring abit now.

Boo. Now I get that "OS Paged Pool Memory Low" error, like I do in TF2.
