    Activision Trash Talks Hell's Highway

In a recent video interview with Eurogamer, a senior producer at Activision, Noah Heller, had some not so nice things to say about Brothers in Arms: Hell's Highway. Keep in mind that Activision is the publisher of the Call of Duty series.

Here is what Heller had to say about his rival's game.
We don't even think about them. They're not a game we even think about when we're playing. We think about the best shooters. We play Modern Warfare, we play [...] Gears of War, we play Halo. You know, that's the competition because we want to look at the games that do great story telling.

We don't want to look at someone who's just making a crappy war game. I watched the trailer and I'm like 'these guys aren't even in the same league.'
Ouch. No really, ouch. Activision has Treyarch developing Call of Duty: World at War. Now, Treyarch isn't really on the best of terms with the gaming populace after Call of Duty 3, so is mudslinging really something Activision should be doing right about now?

I'm really looking forward to HH. This honestly makes me not want to get World At War. Activision just had good sales in cod4, they shouldn't be attacking other developers.

I like Activision, so I hope this hurts them enough so they don't make any truly public attacks against other developers.

Activision one of the biggest game dev in my opinion. And honestly I think everyone has a right to rip everyone else on the games, isn't that what 90% of the users here do when we post comments about games, or our opinions. I think companies should be able to slap around others if the fact is true because its that guys opinion I don't believe he's speaking for the whole company because that would be taking away freedom of speech of the people who work there.

Anywho, its just more drama between companies who want to make the best game, honestly CoD5 > HH and I hope so, if not let it be so when the games come.

Not a big deal really. Not quoted in the list above, but he also threw a bone to Bioshock as another competitor with great storytelling. I doubt anyone would argue with that one.

I'm sure the Brothers in Arms team isn't liking comments like this, but really the bottom line will be the games themselves, not any banter that goes on. Once both are released, we'll see if Heller was right, or if CoD5 is just another rehash of a tired conflict.

I disagree with the "he's not speaking for the company" comment above, though. Companies have every right to dictate what their employees may or may not say to the press, and if their employees choose to push their "freedom of speech" beyond what the company sanctions, said employees will quickly find themselves without jobs. If you work for a company and speak to the press, you're absolutely representing the view of your company, not just yourself.

BIA is pretty successful. of course in terms with popularity cod4 takes the cake, but i really don't see any past products other than cod4 that activision should slam on BIA. competition in wwii genre game is competitive but no need to slam. no professionalism at all.

let the devs talk shit, maybe they will back it up more often. Competition with devs can only be good for us.

Totally. Besides this guy is calling Halo, Gears of War and Modern Warfare the best shooters out there? Clearly console minded, I suppose I cannot blame him thats where the money is right now. Stupid kids with their dang videa-game-boxes.
