New Duke Nukem Forever Screen

I say "new screen" in the loosest sense of the term possible. It's bordering on "postage stamp" territory here. I can't even make the image here a link to a larger image as it is legitimately this small.



This shot was actually discovered by a number of die-hard Duke fanatics after they noticed a change to the 3D Realms help wanted page.



There isn't too much to say about the shot other than it is small, looks like he's holding a pipe bomb in his left hand, and the entire image is oddly blurry for some reason. There's been no word yet from 3D Realms on when we'll start to see direct feed footage, high resolution screenshots, or in what year the game will be released.

Or Max Payne, Prey, Shadow Warrior, or Commander Keen.



DNF will most likely be a generic FPS, but with insane amounts of interactivity, imo. Since it's being developed for the Xbox 360 too, we know it'll have to be around the 9gig mark, considerably less than Crysis for example.



Who knows, we might not ever see the game. The 2001 trailer version looked awesome, they should have just released that. Now it looks like it's turning into a desaturated, "next-gen" messy Doom3/Prey clone. Hmph.

No game can live up to a hype 10 years in the making... Unless that 10 year span was used to develop a new and better engine. If it's ported to a newer engine you can bet it's not going to be that interesting because its original design didn't have said engine in mind in the making. I hope we see some truly amazing things with DNF, but what hasn't been done in fps already that duke's promising us? At least the new Red Faction among other games are experimenting with deformable terrain...



In response to Zom-B, to be perfectly honest even if DNF seems like Prey, you have to admit that prey was really a Native-American, spiffed-up, grav-manipulating, soul-detaching version of the original Duke games. Man gets taken up in space ship, has to rescue some stuff, yadda yadda. However, we're not even sure Duke's going to have any of that. The one thing we do know about it is that it's going to have a lot of attitude, and that might be just worth it itself. They're not copy-cating anyone: the Duke series had it all first...



At least Duke won't be that emo puss-n-boots in prey...
