What's the best PS3 deal out there so far? I need this game.. I need it bad..
The best PS3 deal? The MGS bundle - it comes with the 80gb system (which is backwards compatible with PS2 games, which is glorious), a dualshock3/sixaxis controller, MGS4, and a voucher for the game Pain (which is 10 bucks on PSN) - for US$499. The stand alone PS3 40gb console is priced at US$399.

But that's if you can find the MGS bundle. And if you get it from Wal-mart, they'll give you a $100 gift card for a limited time since it is a blu-ray player. At least in the states, can't talk for wal-marts outside the US.

You see Kotae, they betrayed gamers by not having an UBERGRAPHICSOMGLOL system out there like the PS3 and the Xbox 360!
Mock me all you want Zips, but this news post is my point. My point is exactly this. Metal gear solid 4. I don't care if the graphics suck, is there any game on the wii that comes close to MGS4? Yeah splinter cell double agent... I own it..they forcefully tacked on the Wii controls and it plays like crap. Action games, none. I played "No more heroes". It's alright. Okay adventure, Super Mario Galaxy was fun but nothing great or even comparable to Mario 64.

When I said they betrayed the gamers, I meant they went for mainstream and no longer have to cater to us Gamer fans. We have to play Raving Rayman rabbits and Mario Party 22. When we're bored, we'll play Wii sports turbo deluxe with cricket. Maybe wait several years and you might even see a Mario rehash game or even a sub-par Zelda game. But that's a maybe.

I've never taken Nintendo consoles for "gamers" anyways. There's a handful of great games for the Wii that I wouldn't pass up. Just because it does not cater to the same fanbase as the 360 or the PS3 does not mean it has betrayed anyone - they shifted their focus towards being more "family" like.

It might take time before some more great games come out for the Wii. Right now, a lot of games trip over themselves when it comes to the motion controls - entirely unnecessary in some games, but what can you do? Don't write the console off entirely.

Uh, Nintendo was never for the "gamer fans". They've always done their own thing and always put out the same quality titles they did in the past.

And seriously, what position can you claim where you say what makes a person a "gamer" or part of the "mainstream?" That line is so incredibly blurred anymore they're almost indistinguishable.

If you want to say that the Wii will never have their own "Metal Gear" than you can say the same thing about the 360. If it did have something near identical to that title, countless persons wouldn't have bothered buying a PS3 just for MGS4 then.

Your dislike for a number of the more popular Wii titles is your own opinion. But as it's your opinion, it does not automatically make it fact that Nintendo betrayed any group of people. Perhaps, in your mind, you feel betrayed, but that's only from your POV, not from the POV of a large collective.

Especially apparent is this fact in how much the Wii is selling, how often it's sold out in stores, and how it's nearly overtaking the 360's installed base in the US. ( http://kotaku.com/5016044/wii-nearly-ov...ong-may-sales )

If anything, the definition of "gamer" is the thing that's changing. You just need to recognize this.

Okay miscommunication, I meant "hardcore gamers". Yes I realize Nintendo has always been doing their own thing. But what I mean is that they've basically finally hit gold with their Wii and restructured their business. Catering to the "masses". Hardcore is a niche and XBOX/PS3 are better at that. So logically Nintendo will focus on very mainstream easy to access consumer games. Like Wii fit, Mario party, Mario Galaxy, etc..list goes on.

Of course they wouldn't abandon their hardcore gamer fans, they've released AAA Titles like Zelda, Galaxy, and....and..?...Metroid?..Well that was 2nd party...

Ok my point is, due to their incredibe success they have no need to cater to their hardcore gamer fans. The same old Nintendo attitude "We do things our way, and we do not care." Maybe this worked this time, but if you look back when they told every 3rd party to work on cartridge or do not develope for us. They went to PS2. More of the Nintendo attitude. With all that money, don't you think they could develope a somewhat better online network,etc..?

You also say I have a dislike for many Nintendo games. I don't, a lot of them just have no replay value or rehash mini games. Any of the top most wanted games (And this is on nintendo's site) are Nintendo 1st party. And these come out once in a blue moon..I mean now that Mario, Smash, Mario Kart, Zelda, and a few other notable 2nd party games have come out..what's left to play in the future?

The Wii was also very marketed as a super innovative game. Remember the commercials, first previews of the system. Dentist games? Orchestra games? Fishing games? Surgery games? Music games? (The guy with 2 wiimotes doing a drum solo) None have really surfaced. And their biggest seller to hardcore gamers, pistol fights and sword fights. Damn, I bought a wii and red steel on launch. That was crap.

And for the rest of their mainstream games, the wii pointer is not very accurate and/or it really doesn't live up to the hype the commercials gave. But anyways I hope you also realize the hype that the Wii has is quite a short one, for console longevity - will people still be amused by Wii sports 3 and wii fit 5 in the years to come? I'm not the only one who thinks like this, almost every game developer and market analyst has said the samethings about the Wii as what I have stated above. And many "console buying guides" as well.

I'll just say this: For as much as you say Nintendo turned their back on anybody, they're kicking far more ass now than they ever did with the GameCube.

Who cares about the hardcore gamer when you can reach a larger audience, one that maybe never experienced a game before. If anything, Nintendo is the smartest console development company out of the three.

Some of those "really innovative" games may not have surfaced, but it doesn't seem like anybody really cares that they haven't. Besides you, of course. You're crafting a lot of speculation and conjecture here out of nothing.

Also, the hype for the Wii hasn't died down since it's release. As I said, it constantly sells out shortly after stores receive them in stock. The system came out nearly a full year after the launch of the Xbox 360 in NA, and it's already matching its installed user base. It's coming up on two years now since the Wii's release and for it to still be going as strong as it is, speaks volumes for the appeal in the Wii.

"Hardcore gamers" be damned. There isn't any money in catering only to a few elitists. That's the whole idea behind free will and having choice. If people don't like the game selection on the Wii for whatever stupid reason, they can go elsewhere. That has ALWAYS been the case, so why you say Nintendo is abandoning anybody now or ever, is stunning.

Zips man, all I said was that with their business restructure - they COMPLETELY left out the hardcore gamers. I mean the one game that would have satisfied me (and a lot others) was Super Smash Brawls with a BETTER online..world rankings...etc.. (Just like Mario Karts, they did online RIGHT with Mario Kart. Why not Brawl ? I mean it's one of their flagship titles).

And if you haven't tried Brawl's online, right now it's basically going into a 5-30 minute que and fighting characters. May as well just fight some CPU's.

And yes I know it's free will and everything, I just did not expect them to ..basically leave the "hard core gamers" in the dust. And dude I'm not referring to the elitists or anything. I'm referring to the guy/girl who would like to play super smash brawl with a bit more competitive online system.

I have to disagree with you magicalpoop.. why does everybody write off Nintendo as leaving "hardcore gamers" out in the cold? Didn't today's hardcore gamers grow up with games like Mario, Zelda, and Metroid? Yet we only hear rap from these gamers about how Nintendo produces kiddy games. But gamer culture seems to revere old-school games - I'll take it a step further and say that hardcore gamers have left Nintendo out in the cold instead..

Regarding online play in Brawl - some elements obviously need improvement but to me Smash has always been a party game you play with friends locally. Nintendo's online isn't in the same ballpark as Live but sometimes I'm glad I can't hear other people yapping about something stupid.

I'm fortunate enough to have a Wii, 360, PS3, a fast comp, and a DS for good measure.. and I have to say I'm glad with the direction Nintendo's taking. How much innovation in games would we have if we had 3 of essentially the same console? We certainly wouldn't have had a year like 2007 happen.

I have a Wii, PS2, gamecube, Sega Genesis, N64, and a good computer.

The one and only game I have for the Wii is Super Smash Bros Brawl. Although I did rent, play, and beat Super Mario Galaxy.

I'm way behind on games that I want to rent/own/play for consoles. Honestly, I was hoping to get an Xbox so I could play Halo and Halo 2. I played the original Halo at a friend's house, but I never got to play Halo 2. I was interested in getting the 360 for Perfect Dark Zero and Halo 3 of course. Also, the racing series Burnout is one I've played at that friend's house and it was fun.

PS3 just doesn't interest me. I played the original MGS and while interesting, it was difficult at one particular point in the game that I had trouble getting past. I eventually got past it but got bored with the game because it took so long to get past that point. I've played and beaten MGS2 for the PS2, and the graphics were awesome. That's really the only reason I liked the game. Awesome graphics. And the cutscenes were funny and humorous. The actual style of play was kind of interesting, with various ways to accomplish the task of being sneaky.

It got a little insane near the end. You only played as Snake for the first half of the game. Then at the end, you play as him again I think. The final boss is fought using a sword and you don't use a sword the entire game. And when you've been drugged, it's really crazy. Then the ending was just plain confusing.

What's even more confusing is that there was a second MGS:2 or something, so I don't even know what I played, or if it was in order. I haven't had a chance to play 3 or know much about 4, and I'd play them if I could, but it's not a "must buy" for me.

I got and played SSBB for awhile until I grew bored of it pretty quickly. My biggest thrill before I bought it was that I could finally play it online against other people, since I've moved I haven't been able to find people in my area that like to play it. But since the online capability sucks, it's not as fun as it could've been. I'm sure it's fun if you get people in real life to play it with, but online, not so much.

I've got a good computer now, but I still haven't gotten any good games to play on it, either. I'm just playing WoW and not much else, really. I've got my first level 70 character and I'm having fun doing arenas and pvp and stuff. There's a lot to do once you turn 70. And then once I do as much as I can, I'll start another character and level it to 70.

I guess I'm kind of out of touch as far as what games are good and what's not. Now that I have a better paying job and could be buying more games, I find myself just playing WoW instead. The only game I'm thinking of getting is Battlefield 2, because I played the demo and loved it. But especially since it's already had sequels, which had in-game ads, I'm not certain if I should get it or not, if people still play it, etc. etc.

So, anyway, back to WoW for me.

Any news on when it will be ported to the PC?

Sorry... but it's the only thing I game on!

edit: I just realized it was only 1 & 2 that were ported - not even 3. So obviously it will never happen, and if it does... a long time from now
