Metal Gear Solid 4 Launch Discussion

The game had a worldwide launch tonight in a variety of flavors. The stand-alone version being the cheapest, the LE version coming next, followed up by the 80GB bundle deal, and then the Gun Metal Grey limited edition version.

unfortunately i didn't go to midnight opening because of my finals but hope to pick it up in the afternoon and play it from there on.

Being one of the biggest Metal Gear Solid Fan boys, I did not buy this. Mainly because I do not have a PS3...or a 360 for that matter. So you're going to tell me "Dude they have that bundle..you might as welll get it!!"



Well just ..hold on a minute here..you want me to spend 500$ to play.. ONE .. game? Now this is the part that will make you guys laugh. If MGS4 cost 300 to 400$, and a PS3 cost 100$ ..I'd go for it. But you see, MGS4 costs 59.99..and to rent a PS3 from my blockbuster is under 50$ a night.



And we all know MGS games have around 10-15 hours of gameplay time. I used to dispise XBOX too. But seeing as how Nintendo has betrayed us gamers , and Sony has their foot stuck up their butts (Well maybe by now they have taken it out and realized their situiation). I don't really let any fanboy'ism or "loyalty" take into any account for any of my console purchasing now. I will wait. The best buys and EB games didn't even have pre-order hype or materials or boxes for MGS4. That sounds pretty wrong.

Or you could've gone to Wal-Mart, gotten a bundle there with a $100 gift card to the store that effectively makes the bundle as expensive as a 40GB model with no game? They really did have the best deal out there and the PS3 does have other titles I'm sure you would enjoy.

You need to at least play MGS1 and MGS2 to understand 4. 3 is a bit of a pre-quel to the rest of the series. There's a lot of backstory revealed in 3 obviously, but you can get away without it if you really must.



Or you can just look at some various videos that explain the story out there on the net.
