Eternal Silence 3 Released

Eternal Silence 3.0, a modification for the Source engine, has just been released. Eternal Silence 3.0 is a space modification that has you assume the role of one of two warring factions.

The mod puts you in the role of a soldier helping to fight the war between the United Terran Forces (UTF) and Neo Galactic Militia (NGM). The mod allows for extremely open-ended gameplay, allowing you to fight fast-paced dog fights in space, bombard an enemy capital ship with a heavy payload, or invade the enemy capital ship by foot and attack from the inside.

It's a good mod, but needs work.

My main complaint is that I had to turn my settings down considerably lower than what I used for HL2: Ep2 which was a bit strange. Aside from that issue, the only obnoxious bug I found was some problems with the spawn menu that would result in you being unable to spawn until reconnecting to the server.



Overall, though, this is a really fun mod... the infantry combat reminded me somewhat of Dystopia even though the two mods have virtually nothing in common, and while it's not particularly polished, it does play well. The space combat is fast, furious and deadly. I've always enjoyed space fighter sims, and despite the somewhat hampering controls in ES, it's a great experience.
