The Steam news update for Friday, May 9, 2008 makes mention of the redesign for the Steampowered site, and a couple of special deals currently going on.
It's been a relatively slow news weekend in the FPS world, though we did have a fairly busy string of days beforehand! Doom 4 was announced, BioWare backed off of the insane SecuROM protections, Call of Duty 5 will change its theater, and the PlayStation Gamer's Day brought PS3 owners a ton of new information.
We redesigned the Steam store. In response to our growing catalog of titles, we have made it easier to now to find your favorite games. One particular area we concentrated on was making each of the genre collections more prominent and fully featured. Everyday Shooter, a beautiful independent game from Jon Mak, came to Steam this week. Forget everything you know about arcade style shooters. The hallmark guitar riffs and inspired geometric art direction didn't distract Jon from also creating a challenging game in its own right. It's $8.99 now (10% off the regular $9.99 through May 15).
