900MB Error Logs for Vegas 2 PC

Everyone knows that most games on the pc will crash at one point or another. But most people really don't expect a 900mb (or larger!) error log. It seems that more than one user on the official forums for the game has been having this problem.

So, if Vegas 2 happens to crash on you while playing, be sure to go and delete this log, else you'll likely start to wonder why you're running out of space.

Looks like it is quite literally doing what is says: a memdump. Only it appears to be dumping EVERYTHING in the ram.

Then again, maybe I am just a high school kid posting at 6 am while waiting for the bus.

    Meh.

Seems like it's a pretty severe problem, so yes, it's news worthy. Just as the problems that plague the console versions of the game are news worthy.

This is definitely news worthy, the fucking thing create a 900+MB error log in about 3 seconds.

          Kudos Zips.

I've had no problems with Vegas 2 so far (except when using a trainer), however, as I mentioned elsewhere, ARMA, Kane & Lynch and Trackmania Nations Forever all crash my machine to a physical memory dump BSOD which, unless aborted with a power off, attempts to fill the C: drive with subsequently useless data.

If a person is like me and only has limited drive space on their computer, it's absolutely newsworthy. It's taking out a gig of space.

It's not an error log, it's a memory dump. Big difference. And not an alarming one. And the size isn't surprising, as it is a dump of all the memory it is using at the time. There is no better way to track down problems than being able to look at every single byte, as you don't leave anything to chance. Very strange to see a site like CSNation posting such an alarmist story that holds absolutely no water.

And no, it really doesn't matter if it's an error log or a memory dump. An error caused it, it's a log file that contains all of the information going on in the system at the time of the error. It is an error log in my book.

Oh, it's not a problem that it's taking up nearly a GIG in the form of a physical file each time it happens? Buddy, you had best believe that is one hell of a major issue for a release like this.

What use is a 900mb log/dump to tech support? How exactly are you going to send that to them? Burn it onto a dvd? In my opinion it's clearly unintended and worth reporting on.

Just checked and, yup, three massive error logs in the RB6 directory and a 2.5GB memory.dmp file in Windows.

It's fun to pretend you know anything about computers, isn't it? Heh.

Who is that aimed at? A 900mb (one of the smaller sizes being reported) file is no use to anybody that does not have access to it.

There's no way it's an intended functionality for end users.

I would expect that it's something that was very useful to the developers while developing it, but which they forgot to turn off. Now it's no use to anybody at the size it's producing dumps. Minidump is probably what they forgot to set it back to, the thing that games normally produce (or at least HL2 does).
