The Top 100 Selling Games of 2007

Without a doubt 2007 was one of the better years for gaming as a whole, but where did your favorite titles fall on the list of the top 100 selling games of 2007. Yes, the navigation there is lacking, so just click on this link to see all 100 on a single page.

The number one spot belongs to the multi-platform title, Call of Duty 4 at roughly 8.3 million units sold. Following closely behind is the Xbox 360 exclusive, Halo 3 at 8.0 million sold.

If you're wondering how titles like Pirates of the Caribbean beat out something like the Orange Box (along with beating out Mass Effect and Bioshock somehow...), it's because the list doesn't seem to factor in digital distribution sales.

Enough with the stuff about 2007 already. 2007 was over four months ago, a quarter of the new year already over. I can't believe some sites are still doing game of the year awards.

Wow. How lame. I posted a comment mentioning a couple things:

Orange Box sold over 3 million copies. 1.5 million on PS3 + 360, and at least 10% more than that on PC - meaning at least another 1.65 million

Then, of course, Crysis sold more than a million, and STALKER sold more than 1.65 million. Neither of which appear on this list.

The result? They delete my comment from their list. How classy.

These aren't GOTY anything here. These are just trying to present the top 100 games of the past year in terms of sales.

Did I ever claim this was GOTY? My point is so many sites are still preoccupied about 2007.

Zips has a tendency to do that. He once edited one of my comments with something vulgar a while ago when I proved him wrong in a short argument.

I was talking about the web site presenting that list deleting my comment, not my comment being deleted from CS Nation :-)

You don't really grasp that sales figures aren't always immediate and updated the split second they're changed eh?

Nowt surprising on there except for how well some of the cheap cash-ins sold (Hannah Montana, High School Musical, Fantastic Four, etc). I'm amazed anyone will still go for that kind of shit considering even most little kids seem to be aware these days that any game quickly shoved out after a film/series will be bad.

Also, whoop CoD4. It really is that awesome. It is helped to the #1 spot though by having come out on virtually every gaming platform there is. Cmopare that to Halo which sold almost as well and only came out on one platform...
