EA/DICE Give in - Free Guns for All

In an interview with IGN, a Senior Producer at DICE, Karl-Magnus Troedsson, revealed that the weapons in Battlefield: Bad Company will be free to all.
IGN: So there's no charge for the Gold Edition guns?

    Karl-Magnus:
No, there's no charge for any of the guns in the game. All of the guns in the game can be achieved without purchasing them. All guns are available to everyone. However, we want to give some exclusivity to those who buy the Gold Edition. They will get the five Gold Edition weapons from Day One when they put the disc in. People that don't buy the Gold Edition can get the five additional weapons by getting to the final rank in the game. There will be a golden, shiny five-weapon unlock when they hit level 25 in the game.
As for the possibility of other micro-transactions, Troedsson continues on to say that besides the possibly of new gamer pictures or themes, they do not currently see the value in releasing other content at a cost.

Will the gold edition still have the ads in it and what is it gonna cost? If it measn teh game is ad free then it may be worth it...?

That makes more sense. If it was me, I'd do it this way:

-The people that pay extra money can get the items faster, but they don't look as cool.

-The people that 'earn' them (even if they already had them) can get the cooler-looking version, free.

That way there's a visual distinction between those that bought it, and those that earned it.

As far as 'pay extra money' goes, it should always and only be things that don't affect gameplay and are pure flavor. Maybe having an adless version or something. *eyeroll*
