DigiPen Institute of Technology, a video game programming school that this poster graduated from last Spring, has once again taken the Best Student Game award at the 2008 Independent Games Festival. This time around, Synaesthete's unique blend of platform and rhythm game mechanics impressed the IGF judges enough to merit the worldwide acclaim and attention that come from winning such a prestigious award.
And by "worldwide acclaim and attention," I mean "posts on washed-up Counter-Strike fansites." Anyway, I recommend you check out this highly-addictive student project.
As every gaming media outlet is hurried to point out, Valve's Portal was also based on a student game from DigiPen: Narbacular Drop. And as every post by me is hurried to point out, last year a student game of mine, Toblo, won the very same award at IGF.
