The awards for 2007's best upcoming and released mods has been announced over at the ModDB. Were there a few surprises with the winners? You had better believe there were.
- Best Mods of 2007 - Unreleased
- 5 - Operation Black Mesa - A Source remake of the original Opposing Force expansion.
- 4 - Mechwarrior: Living Legends - A modification for Crysis that centers around giant battle mechs.
- 3 - Barney's Tales - This is another remake of a classic expansion. You'll take on the role of Barney in this Source mod version of Blue Shift.
- 2 - Jurassic Park - The mod aims to bring the movie and the book, Jurassic Park, to life on the CryEngine 2 as a mod for Crysis.
- 1 - Zombie Panic: Source - While the mod is already available for download, voting took place before this mod's release. It finds you and a few buddies teaming up all in the name of survival during a Zombie outbreak.

- 5 - Minerva - One of the most engaging SP mods out there for Half-Life 2, this mod contains multiple chapters, intense action, and quite the engaging story line.
- 4 - Forgotten Hope 2 - A Battlefield 2 modification that takes place during WWII across the campaigns conducted in Africa.
- 3 - Empires - This is another Source mod that has made the top 5 list. The game is a mix of RTS and FPS.
- 2 - Project Reality - Another Battlefield 2 modification that takes a key from ArmA. Teammates must work together to accomplish a number of tasks across huge maps.
- 1 - Insurgency - Another Source mod rounds out the top list for released mods of 2007. If you don't know, the mod pits two opposing forces against each other in order to capture points on the map.
