    DIY Portal Case Mod

Just when you thought it was safe to come out after someone built a TF2 sentry gun mod, now comes a Companion Cube PC case mod. Yes, the little cube that keeps on trucking is back.

There is a step by step guide over at bit-tech that details the creation of the case mod.

        Quoted for Truth.

It looks like a zero-oxygen lava box.

On page 3 it says he put a 120mm fan in the bottom, there's a nice picture of it too. It uses a Via C7 processor which doesnt give of much heat, and by the looks of things it's the fanless 1GHz version.

Not pointless at all. When I saw other pictures it wasn't in context. It's a lot smaller than I thought. I love these mini-case mods. They always have those Via chips, but it's still really cool. It's unfortunate that he put Windows on it. Would probably run a heck of a lot better with Linux, seeing as he's not going to be playing Portal on it anyway.

It's cool how the 120mm fan worked with the design of the cube for airflow.

If the fan is under it, how does that work..?

Cases tend to be raised off of the surface they sit on via rubber feet. So there still is airflow there.

See the grooves in the cube? That's how.
