It doesn't matter if some people who can run the game fine didn't like it, not everyone will. When someone sees they don't meet the requirements (the majority in this case) they are not going to buy the game. Hence it's low sales. When a game is hyped and ends up sucking, it gets low scores, not high ones. See Assassin's Creed. That game got a number of low scores because of it's hype.

I have to agree that Crysis was one of the most underwhelming gaming experiences I've ever had. Far Cry was far more impressive in its day.

At first it's little more than Just Cause, with just you and your underpowered super-suit against hordes of North Koreans and their counterfeit Kalshnikovs. As Zips said, it's mind-numbingly repetitive and creatively unsatisfying. It sat, half-finished, for weeks while I played Call of Duty 4.

I almost dreaded going back to it, and when I did it was fully armed with a God mode and Infinite Energy & Ammo trainer. I don't have time for that kind of tedium when I'm trying to have fun instead.

Then, suddenly it turns into Prey, marooning you on an alien ship level that's almost as stupid and pointless as Hell in Doom 3. There's some Medal of Honor: Pacific Assault-style sloshing around on a sinking aircraft carrier, then more odds-defying action and another retarded Boss monster. THIS is what we waited so long with baited breath for?

Truly the Carmen Electra of games.

Sales could be down to Pirates...., Not games themselfs....

Yes, could be, but not bloody likely.

Which brings us, once more, to the WHY of piracy, discussion of which, in and of itself, is not allowed around these parts.

Like tears in rain, though. Don't blame piracy for corporate greed and creative bankruptcy. It's more like the other way around.

Crysis is as fun as you want it to be. The game offers complete freedom. The suit gives you many options, you can interact with objects in the world, and most situations can be approached any way you want. To top it off, there is an editor included that you can do just about anything with. If you had to use trainers to have fun, than it's you, not the game. Especially when you say you were playing CoD4, a game that is nothing but walking down streets mowing down terrorists. Sounds fun.

"Crysis is as fun as you want it to be."

Clearly and most assuredly not true on its own.

If I have to use a trainer to enjoy a game, then, yes, it's me -- and enough others to have wanted and bothered to make the damned thing -- having a problem with the game NOT being as fun as as we want it to be.

As far as CoD4, "walking down streets mowing down terrorists" does sound fun but it's hardly an accurate description of the game. And I don't recall a single juvenile, retarded Boss encounter.

But thanks for the input. I'll take it under advisement, Mr. Cowboy.

There are trainers for almost every game out there, so saying Crysis sucks because a trainer exists is completely idiotic. A 5 second search through youtube shows that there are plenty of fun things to do in Crysis. (http://youtube.com/watch?v=VaHS-y_mapQ) I've played CoD4 since beta, so don't think I have no idea what the game is like. I've played through the campaign multiple times as well as multiplayer and my description is perfect. The game is basically an arcade shoot em up. But thanks for the input. I'll take it under advisement, Mr. Cowboy.

Well, now you're just being an ass for ass's sake because that's not what I said at all (except for the exact regurgitation of what I did say at the end).

Trainers exist because players have different preferences and expectations, NOT as an indication that a game sucks. When (and if) you pay $50 +/- for a game you shouldn't have to play it shoehorned into how you're expected to.

I would have enjoyed Bioshock much more with no combat whatsoever; the world was vivid and interesting enough without having to defend myself from attack every two seconds. As it was, I played using God mode and was able to take my sweet time exploring -- and appreciating -- Rapture while shrugging off the constant irritations of splicer encounters, killing them when I was good and ready. Not played as intended but I enjoyed it much more. Which is the whole point, meatpie.

I've never used a trainer for a combat flight sim because I know exactly what to expect, particularly if realism is a key element -- always a dodgy subject in FPS games.

You've obviously become jaded to CoD4 through multiple repetitive plays so if you still feel that your initial description is "perfect" then, in your own words, "it's you, not the game."

Except I never said CoD4 sucks. The fact that you have to manipulate a game that much to enjoy it leads me to believe that you have some high standards of what fun is in a video game. The review at the bottom of this page sums it up perfectly: http://sanjurotop10.blogspot.com/ but honestly, I just don't care anymore. Bye.

I guess it's true: A winner never quits and a quitter never wins.

No, you didn't say CoD4 sucks, you implied that I said Crysis sucks because there's a trainer for it. (Your quote: "...so saying Crysis sucks because a trainer exists is completely idiotic.") You're a very confused form of life.

And yes, I have very high standards regarding what is and what isn't fun in a computer game. As if that's a bad thing.

A review is nothing more than some asshole's opinion; a tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing.

"Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair or fucking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back."

Easier to give up than keep up, eh?

I haven't played either Crysis or CoD (any of them, much less 4), and neither interested me. Most games don't anymore.

I find a game interesting based on a combination of graphics, gameplay, and a good time. Well, plot would be a better third factor, but it doesn't begin with g. =P

Anyway. I like eye candy like the rest of us. I'm upgrading my computer constantly just to be able to display that eye candy faster than a slideshow. I also want a good story, in single player games, or something fun and interesting to do, in multiplayer. Typically I prefer multiplayer that has some element of strategy to it, where intelligence is as much or more a factor than clicking/button pushing skills. However, I also like good 'gameplay', which is the actual interface and the way it works.

Most games nowadays fail in one or more of those areas. Typically not graphics, however the old, good games, do. Final Fantasy 7 was an okay game, and there's others even older I would classify as awesome, but the graphics are horrid, compared with today's. It's been getting difficult to find a true 'gem', in the gaming market, especially for PC.

Portal surprised me. I wasn't that interested in it, and to be honest, it's relatively 'content-free', basically revolving around a completely puzzle-based gameplay. But it's the first 3D mind-bender kind of game I've played, and I haven't played the 2D ones in a long time. It was good. I enjoyed it a lot more than I thought I would, although I've just played the story, I haven't gone back to try the 'challenges'.

Episode 2's story was good, and TF2 has some fun multiplayer with an element of strategy involved, mostly based on class choice. So the orange box was pretty good, in my opinion. Worth buying, and I'm glad I did.

There really isn't any other games, for PC, that I was thinking about getting. A couple ones for consoles, perhaps going back and getting sequels to things I missed out on back when I couldn't afford them, etc. But the only game I'm interested in getting, for PC, that I don't already own, is Battlefield 2. Not 2021 or whatever because it has ads, but just battlefield 2. Or maybe some other mmorpg like everquest 2...

Really, there's not a lot of games out there that interest me. Maybe because I don't know about them, because I've been keeping myself out of the loop back when I couldn't afford them, so I didn't torture myself, but now that I can, there just doesn't seem like a game that I 'have' to have, meaning one that comes that strongly recommended. Not in the PC market anyway. I even asked for recommendations in another comment thread and didn't get any at all.

Blizzard and Valve are like the only publishers that I'm even buying games from at the moment, and I have all their most recent stuff. I'm interested in recommendations, especially things I can demo first...anyone recommend anything? (Genres I like are fps, action adventure, rpg, maybe even racing...)

I guess it is true: Never argue with an idiot. They bring you down to their level and beat you with experience.

I guess I'll be the mature one and stop arguing over a video game, while you'll still be here making it out to be WW3 and acting tough over the internet. But hey, have fun!

I have found that to be true as well. In this context I am truly beaten.

Since you're the one who started the argument (I was just stating an opinion) it is fitting that you concede it as well. Bravo. You've just taken your first step into a larger world.

I stand by my last comment even through all the fanboy blasting it got, there are far more deserving games for the artistic award than a multiplayer shooter with barely any maps and 9 character models.
