Well, it's nearing the end of the year (didn't I just say that last week?) but there's still more news coming from the crew at Valve (I swear there's a strong sense of deja-vu here)! Take a quick look at the Steam news update for the week ending December 21, 2007.
Expect next week to be a slow one, what with the Christmas holiday and all. So in case Kotae or myself have no news to post, Merry Christmas everyone!
Championship Gaming Series (CGS) will be broadcasting its 2007 World Final competition in high-definition to more than 350,000,000 viewers worldwide. 12 teams from around the world, from Chicago to London to Seoul--each with an elite Counter-Strike:Source team--competed for more than $1,000,000 in total prize money. Check your local listings for broadcast times. Also of note is that there was a hidden goodie in this week's news update! Commented out from the actual news was a sign that new apparel from Portal is on its way to the Valve store! It seems as though the items were to be ready for the news update, but were not yet made available. Look for these items soon. You can check out the selection of t-shirts, long sleeve shirts, and a new Portal themed hoodie by clicking on the thumbnail below.
We released the original soundtrack to The Orange Box today. Featuring 19 original compositions, the musical odyssey spans every shade of Orange: the troop-rallying anthems of Team Fortress 2, the textural soundworlds of Half-Life 2: Episodes One and Two; and the atmospheric electronica from Portal's test chambers. As a special bonus, the soundtrack includes two versions of Jonathan Coulton’s “Still Alive: the in-game version and Coulton’s vocal mix, an exclusive track unavailable anywhere else.
The CD soundtrack is now available at the Valve Store. The digital version is headed to iTunes, Napster, eMusic, Amazon MP3 and other digital music services in the coming weeks.
Finally, we take you live via security cam to the Aperture Laboratories Holiday Chamber... Happy holidays from all of us at Valve and Steam.
Expect next week to be a slow one, what with the Christmas holiday and all. So in case Kotae or myself have no news to post, Merry Christmas everyone!
