Episode 4 or Half-Life 3 - Take your Pick

Doug Lombardi, the voice of Valve Software, recently did a short interview with Stuff We Like to hint that there will be life beyond Half-Life 2: Episode 3.

TS-SWL: Are there any current plans after Episode 3 to have a Half Life 3?



DL: We haven’t announced anything specific, but Half-Life won’t end at Episode Three - hang on to your crowbars!

This is all well and good, but there's one important question yet to be answered with a clear and precise answer. "Will we see Portal 2?!"

I vote Half-Life: 3 with even better graphics, engine, game play, and your favorite weapon the CROWBAR! And then maybe we'll also see a CS2 or something else for multiplayer :).

Please god let it be Half-Life 3, I'm sick of Episodes, don't care how long it'll take, actually one year max, but dear god let it be a full game.

I think they should go for HL3 (though I like playing episodic when it doesn't take a long breaks between) and instead of making CS3 (CSS being CS2, long live 1.6) they make a Portal Multiplayer feature. That would be interesting to see developed.

I think the episode content scheme has worked well and has been a good idea, but after Episode Three it would be appropriate to bring it to a nice close. Sure, we like bite-sized Half-Life content that get released more quickly then full-scale games, but its always the major full-scale games that "make epic dents" in the gaming community. They can have my vote for a Half-Life 3.

I like faster releases, but I also don't like "to be continued" when I have to wait that long for it to be continued.
