    Time Magazine's Top 10 Games of 2007

If you couldn't already tell by the fact I'm posting this on the main page, or that I tagged this under the "Half-Life 2" category, you probably need something spelled out for you. The Orange Box has made Time Magazine's Top 10 Video Games of 2007 list. What spot did it come in?

I'll just tell you now, it took home the second spot. What was number 1? I believe it's some game having to do with a Chief, a flood, and some rings. Did Time buy into the hype for its number 1 pick? In my opinion, yes they did (even though I do regularly play their #1 title). You can view the full list (starting with #1) right here.

I too am not convinced by all this hype surrounding Halo. I've played all three a few times and while its been good fun its hardly been brilliant. Can anyone tell me exactly what sets it apart from all other first person shooters?

Don't get me wrong, its a very nice series - great storyline, soundtrack, AI, looks very polished, etc etc - but it's hardly redefined the genre in ways that DooM, Quake, UT, & HL series did, has it?

That said, I've never been a fan of FPS games on consoles anyway (except of course goldeneye on the N64), so I'm probably more biased than fox news...

I love Halo. I like the Orange Box games. and beyond that, who cares what a magazine says? Sure, Halo hasn't you know.. moved the fps genre leaps and bounds, but it's a fun console game.

          Company: Electronic Arts.

Time magazine sure does its research. I wonder how many of the games they actually bothered playing.

I'll enjoy the orange box games much more now I know they're rendered by a physics engine.

"The real surprise is Portal, a satanically innovative puzzle game involving a gun that creates wormholes that zap objects from place to place."

            Satanically innovative? Wormhole gun?

            Zaps objects?

            What?
