Orange Box Wins At SpikeTV Awards

For all of the categories that either the Orange Box or Valve were up to win in this year's SpikeTV VGAs, only two victories were achieved.



Orange Box was voted as the victor in the Best PC Game category, besting Bioshock, Crysis, and World in Conflict. Portal won in the Breakthrough Technology category. The VGA awards show is a joke, but they actually managed to put up a decent list this time around. Good for them.

What technology did portal use that was so breakthrough? At least give it to a dx-10 game. They do know that the portal gun isn't real right?

DX10 isn't really a game-specific breakthrough technology, per se. It's new technology, but I wouldn't consider it breakthrough. It isn't mature enough yet to be considered much. And hardly any games have actual DX10 features and/or performance (That are currently on the market, at least).

good point, still though portal shouldn't have won for breakthrough tech.

Interesting... Halo 3 didn't win enough (winning only one award before this one) so a customised award was actually made for them? I didn't realise corporate sponsorships could be so biased... I mean, surely the Most Addictive Game Fueled by Dew is voted by YOU, the players at the Spike TV VGA website right?... I mean surely Wii Sports was a valid nominee in that category right?... Right?
