    Valve Releases TF2 Stats

Remember how Valve released some statistics, charts, and "Death Maps" for Episode 2? If you didn't, then you should probably click on the words "Episode 2" in that last sentence.

Valve is at it again with a large list of compiled stats for Team Fortress 2. You can find information on which class is played the most, the average points per hour, and other nifty stats. I really wouldn't figure the Sniper to be the class that generates the most points per hour.

Possibly the most useful of this information (As far as game balance is concerned) comes from the information showing the balance of the maps based on what team wins the most. Dustbowl is apparently the most lopsided map, with Red winning over 70% of the time. Hydro is currently the most balanced with a near 50/50 split.

Here, enjoy a few pretty pictures.

    More stats.

As I suspected, the mirrored maps favor the blue side. Red players are just easier to see and shoot. I just didn't think it would be THAT much of a difference. (it may be that good players, for whatever reason, join blue more often than red... maybe because they have the same theory as me) Factoring that out for hydro, which isn't mirrored, it seems map design wise it may be even or even favor the red slightly. That's surprising too considering that each section is completely different. One things for sure, that's too many stalemates. Games should be won by points, (most flag captures, most CPs controlled over time) not sudden death. The other thing this indicates a fix for is adjustments for points earned. It seems engineers (and maybe demoman and medic) need a slight boost. That's odd since I always get a lot of points as medic. Sniper (and maybe spy and heavies) could be toned down on points earned. (note that I'm not talking about reducing their hit points or damage, just points earned to be even across the board for all classes so there's an even playing field to compare across classes) Kills seem to be exactly where they need to be. Nice.

Also, it seems I'm in the 15.6% that have "head of class" but not "with friends like these". I should just add people in my groups during our next play event.

I think medics should get assist points even if the person they are healing is already at full health. As it stands, you only get assists if your partner is wounded (and being actively healed by you) when he makes the kill.
