Rumor - New Game Mode for CS Source

Apparently, in the latest major update for the Source SDK, there are a few hidden clues that point the way to a new game mode being introduced into CS: Source. A forum posting on the Facepunch forums, sheds a little light on the subject.

In case you're unable to view those forums, we have a direct link to a locally hosted text file of the newly found material. It tells us that a mode akin to the newest Day of Defeat: Source mode where both teams race to destroy the other team's areas, complete with a timed fuse, and the ability for your team to diffuse the bomb before the timer runs out. Either that, or something closer to Team Fortress 2's territorial control point mode.

Hey, it's something new that is possibly coming to CS: Source. Rejoice!

All aspiring game developers, remember: Invent new gameplay modes before fixing old bugs. This is what the community wants. (Also you can cover up the bugs with something fresh, and new!)

    ...

While this is certainly good news, that they haven't abandoned CS Source, its not the most pressing issue at hand, at least in my opinion. Who knows. Maybe they'll fix the tons of old bugs if this rumor is true.

Sounds nice for a new gameplay mode in a game that hasnt much new in a while.

Which is why this is still a rumor. I just go by what I've seen first.

The last major release was about a month ago now I believe.

Exactly what bugs are you referring which are so pressing that they should completely stop improving upon the game?

This won't happen, because it would conflict with the original philosophy of Counter-Strike: Source: To bring Counter-Strike 1.6 up to par of today's gaming with remade technology. Highly unlikely they will be introducing a new game type.

                    They should revamp assasination.

                        - Some kind of capture the flag playtype, but translated to suit CS (i.e. teams have a briefcase they have to get to a destination).

                        - A twist on de_ maps where there are multiple targets (primary, secondary etc.)

                        - Also they could ressurect escape maps (ha.)

                          CS objectives:

assasination. In particular, one with no particular place for the VIP to go, he just has to survive...and no spot on the map that's "perfectly campable" without the vip's team working very efficiently. Random spawn locations too, so the 'camp point' the VIP team prefers might be too far away for them to reach on the next round. An alternate possibility is that the rescue team shows up at a random location after X amount of time. You can't just automatically head to "the exit" because of the random location of it, and you have to "hold out" until it shows up.

Standard assasination from the previous one.

Escape, or something similar, where there's no escape point and the team just has to survive.

Guard a point. A radio signal is transmitting and they have to guard that room from the other team. Possibly have this point destructible as well, but it would take some doing. Perhaps like a 30 second 'defuse' time to stop the signal.

Vehicles. Some kind of larger map where vehicle travel is necessary to make it to objectives in the time frame.

Capture the flag. Instead of a hostage, have a physical object, kind of like the bomb, but it starts in CT spawn instead of a T carrying it. CT's are guarding this object from being stolen, T's are trying to steal it. Even better if it can be broken, and both teams lose if it breaks.

One of the terrorists is carrying a cell phone with priceless data on it. The satellite can locate this cell phone every 30 seconds with a 'ping' on the radar. The cell phone can be picked up by either team. If a CT has it, he needs to use a device to retrieve the data and upload it to a satellite (sort of like defusing, but he can do it anywhere and it takes longer to do, like 20 seconds; a variation can be that he can only do it in a certain spot(s), or that it doesn't take as long if he does it in those spots, and wherever he does it, lights up on T's radar). The terrorists just need to get out alive, with the cell phone. (Variation of escape.)

Just use some imagination. In fact, you don't even have to use imagination...look in real world events. Not all forms of terrorism (and counter-terrorism) are bombs and hostages.

lets just go crazy and add CTF to CSS, that'll get people bitching.
