Insurgency Beta 2 Released

The second BETA for the Insurgency Mod has been released. The client is only available via FilePlanet, while the server file download links can be found right here. The full list of changes was posted yesterday.



Along the same line of thought, Planet Half-Life has offered up a a review of the Insurgency mod. Maybe things have changed quite a bit since I offered up my own thoughts for the first BETA, as FP seems to give rather high praise for the mod. To be frank, I won't be giving the second BETA a try. Perhaps I'll give the mod another shot come later BETA releases or when a "final" release goes public.

It sucks. Oh, I said it and I was blunt. I personally think the PHL review deals with a lot of the superficiality of the mod as well, especially for how highly it was reviewed. The mod does not deliver on what it promised from the start.

I gave beta 1 a try when it was first released and I also was not impressed. But after playing a bit of b2 last night I feel its a made a fairly large leap in terms of gameplay. I've not played it enough to make a full judgement, but its certainly seems a big improvement on b1.

Of course, theres still some way to go with it, but I feel its worth a second chance.

Just to be technical, there was still quite a bit of slant even without clicking the link. Not that I mind, but I can see where others would.
