    CSPromod BETA 1.0 Released

I know a number of you have had some interest in user created mod for Source, CSPromod, the "1.6 on Source, but still looks like 1.6" modification. Do I think this mod is needed or necessary? No, and I'm going to be quite honest about that.
We're so happy to finally be releasing CSP to the public. We hope you all enjoy it. Remember, everything about the game can be tweaking and changed; please take the time to view the readme file, as it includes vital information about the project and its progress. As you can see, we'll soon be moving to CSPromod.com v2, which will allow bug reporting and community votes, among other new features. In the meantime, please keep track of any bugs or suggestions, so that when the new site is released, your input is ready.
If you really want, you can download it from their site. You know, I did have a local mirror here and already up. However, a readme within the zip folder says they don't want this, for their own stat tracking reasons, you see.

    Played a bit earlier.

However many years they've been working on it, and it still feels like an unfinished game.

Sure, betas are going to have bugs. They're going to have glitches. But they're still relatively decent. Look at the TF2 beta.

Maybe it's just me. Maybe its the servers. Whatever. IDK.

It may get a lot better. I hope it gets a lot better. But as it stands, I feel like its not living up to its hype.

I don't like the deal with killing someone and they instantaneously disappear, as well as their guns after x seconds.

I expected some sort of visual cue to notify me my shots and kills were accepted, but not really. I didn't expect full blown ragdolls, but at least some static bodies when you kill.

Whenever someone on the other team killed me, it felt strange and irritating, as if I had been amx_slay'd without the special effects.

The scoreboard is nice, but is lacking a few things. The health meter is nice, but there isn't anything explaining what the various columns are for. It's confusing to look at in a quick glance.

All you see is "Name 100 13 37 90", the slots meaning name, health, frags, deaths, and ping, respectively. There is no title at the top of the scoreboard to signify what columns mean what. There's also no highlight on your name so you can find yourself on the board easily.

There are no team numbers to denote how many players are on the team. It may not be necessary, but its convenient to have. It's not that hard to implement.

There are only Galil, Famas, MP5, AK47, M4, AWP, Deagle, USP, Glock. Maybe 1 or 2 more. Those are the main competitive guns (And that's what the mod is allegedly for), but many times my friends will use the "pubnub" weapons, but they're good with them, and they're cheaper. You'd think after this long they would've had this included already. They may add them in later, though. However, I'm not that fizzled over the gun selection.

Models/Sounds are the same. This is evidently going to change eventually, though.

Deathmatch. It's meant to be a warmup mode for private servers. Sometimes it's nice to play in a competitive pub, though. This 'warmup' mode in a pub turns to deathmatch. [Enter spawn killing] The mode is nice...for a pug. Server-admins can control the warmup/live modes in private servers, so let them or league plugins do it.

    On the other hand...

    The maps are nice.

You can choose to use full-white or full-black crosshairs.

Crouching is very close to the ground. A very soothing feeling. I'm not sure if it works like the old Source way did (Where your head was still visible, they could see you, you couldn't see them.)

    Crouch-peeking.

And simultaneously a good and bad point:

    Bunnyhopping is back.

Flame me if you want..But those are my opinions. The mod would be nice if it were executed right, and it may improve, but right now, it's another disappointing mod to me.

Good post and, really who can flame you? You just stated what it is like not even opinions really.

I'm not sure if its possible, but every server I joined is that stupid deathmatch pregame stuff, can it just be like an 'actual' public?
