Planet Half-Life has a nice little review of Portal for us.

The goal of each test is to simply get to the exit. In your way are increasingly harder obstacles, but if you make it to the end you’ll be awarded with a moist, delicious cake (as well as unlocking the advanced and special challenge-based maps).

Although that quote doesn't tell much about the game, I had to include cake somewhere, you know. There's plenty more cake and portal talk in the review, which you should check out right now!

I'm a total Valve fanboy but that was probably one of the worst game reviews I've read in years. Thank god its not professional. Giving Portal a 5 for graphics? You seriously have to smack yourself in the head. Sure Portal had advanced GRAPHICAL CAPABILITIES with now the third generation of Source, but complete white textures with repeated material through an entire game isn't exactly the world's most Crysis-looking graphics.



Secondly and most importantly, I chuckled when they give "value" a 5/5. How the heck does beating a game in three hours constitute a perfect value that will allow you to play the game for Oblivion-like duration? Advanced levels shortly extend the life of the game, but its far, far, far away from a perfect value.
