    Steam News Update - October 12, 2007

This week's Steam news update is just chalk full of awesome new information! Read on for all of the exciting details.
*whew* Now we're taking a break to eat some cake.
I'll give you all a moment to let that sink in. Moment is up! As expected, there wasn't much to say this week. Hopefully everyone is enjoying the Orange Box, I know I sure have been. I really can't wait to see what custom maps people can come up with for Portal.

As for the CS-Nation review of the Orange Box. It's coming, at some point. You probably already figure we'll give a mostly glowing review, so it'll just be more of a Pros and Cons look at the titles, and perhaps some Episode 3 package wishes. I just became burnt out on writing constant articles and I figured that instead of giving you guys a rather horribly written review, I'd take a little break and change things up a bit. That Left 4 Dead preview is still going to come at some point as well. Here's a sneak peak at that: It's awesome!

So how's about that Episode 2 gnome achievement? That one is going to have to wait a bit before I tackle it. If you haven't already, you can use gcfscape to extract the credits song from Portal. I know that I sure did that.

My guess is you put it on or near the rocket before you launch it.

Just a guess, though. Until someone tells me whether unlocking all the achievements actually does anything, I'm not going to be bothered to try.

I haven't done it myself yet, but I know how to do it. Remember near the very beginning of the game where Alyx contacts her father and Kleiner shortly after walking away from the train wreckage? There's a gnome in that building.

Have fun transporting him through the whole game and shoving him in the rocket hatch where Lamarr is.
        :)

Thor - No, you don't get anything other than personal satisfaction. Same as with the 360 achievements.
