My vote is the computer gods are laughing at you :-). File a bug report, mention you are on vista.

I doubt vista is the culprit. I'm on Vista as well...

I blame vista for the plagues of the universe having had to deal with in IT. It is indeed a plague on humanity. That said the average user won't notice a difference. I'll stick with XP until SP2 for Vista, so for another 2 years or so.

I think it might be Vista + dual core = pain.

But I wouldn't know, I'm so far away from high-end computing I just suck.

This comp was the first time I've been able to crack 100 fps in the source engine...when I look at walls...

I also don't think it's a dual core issue... unless it's only a dual core issue and not a quad core issue. Wouldn't make much sense.

vista x64 with dual core and a x1900xtx here.

no issues at all, never had any either.

game plays great at 1600x1200 with 4xMsaa and 8xHQaf, everything else is on, and maxed.

achievements are pretty fun though, but damn, some of them are just retarded. I want more skill based ones, rather than the "keep playing long enough, and we guarantee the achievement regardless of skill" mentality the current awards were made with.

Spy is really fun because not everyone knows the spy abilities in TF2, which everyone will know in a few weeks (probably days), so you should probably enjoy how much fun it is now. I was disguised as an enemy spy in their flag room and these engineers just watched me dance around thinking I was on their team. They had 3 fully loaded sentry guns set up, and I broke them all in 3 seconds and ran off.

I like that spies can break them, though, because now Engineers have to hump their sentry guns and stay around them rather than setting them down then running off somewhere else.

Odd... When I max everything, TF2 works better...

                  1440x900 (Bah 16:10) Reso.

                  AMD 64 x2 4600+

                  Windows XP

                  7800GT

I haven't had a crash since. (And my TAB button works now)

This game is pretty fun. The artistic style and character is incredible. Gameplay itself is fun but not exactly revolutionary or anything, but definitely entertaining. Overall 2 thumbs up hehe.
