Team Fortress 2 Preview from CVG

Could this possibly be the final preview released before Team Fortress 2 sees its massive public release later today? I think it might just be! CVG flew out to Valve headquarters in Washington to get a little hands on time with the final version of Team Fortress 2. "Final version" being a relatively loose term given how much the game will surely be updated.
Before, if you shot the cack out of an enemy team member only to have a snipers blast him in the head, you'd get bugger all points despite the fact you dealt the most damage. In TF2, anyone who gets a shot on target gets a point. So if a Scout gets a few shots off, a Pyro brings on the flame and then a Heavy finishes the target off, all three players get a frag.

That sounds mighty tasty. Well, we might not have gotten to head out to Valve ourselves to dish out our own preview (I don't know what happened to that), but it looks like our long wait is nearly over.

Well, if this sucker is released tomorrow afternoon, early afternoon, I won't be around to post the news. So, you crazy kids enjoy and I'll get some late news up well after the fact. Because that's how I roll.

Gibs are in TF2? That removes my buyer's remorse (bought the pack today after some internal debate.)

                    WORST IDEA EVER FOR FRAGS.

I had a feeling something was going to ruin it. Well, not ruin, but it's pretty dumb.

Actually more games need something like this. At least with an "assist" tally.

Oh, guess I didn't miss out on the festivities.

Assist points in dystopia have only encouraged more team and tactical play.

                          It's really a great idea.

I plan on shooting once at every person I see, even if only to knick a fingernail, so I can get points

I think they should remove scoreboards altogether. Since when has it ever encouraged intelligent gameplay?

In WoW, people are so worried about doing damage and getting 'killing blows' that they totally forget the objective of the map. "I got the most kills!" "Yeah, well the other team WON."

Anything that pushes games away from "Kill! Kill! Now kill some more!" and back into the realm of objectives requiring teamwork and/or intelligence to accomplish, is good in my book.

That's why I like CS more than other FPS games. Granted, my exposure to FPS games was extremely low, but CS 1.6 had objectives that appealed to me and seemed realistic and fun.

It's too bad CS:S servers are like 70% modded away from the core gameplay, and a good 25% of the remaining 30% are 24/7 one map, or some other nuisance.
