Steam Community Open for TF2 Beta

As noted yesterday, the Steam Community has officially been released into the wilds for everyone to enjoy. The Community will be used in full force during the Team Fortress 2 BETA that begins on Monday. Valve has released this press release on the subject.

Starting Monday, September 17, the Team Fortress 2 (TF2) beta opens to those who pre-purchaser The Orange Box via Steam and save 10% of the regular price. The Steam community features will allow TF2 players to track detailed player and team statistics and achievements records.

The Steam Community is a mandatory update to the Steam client. Keep in mind that you do not have to use all of the new features, and most every notice can be disabled from the "Friends" tab under the main Steam settings. Team Fortress 2 BETA will go live on Monday.



To any in the CS-Nation community, you had best believe I'll try and hop into some TF2 from the moment it's released. I hope to see some of you in game.

gahhh I don't want to pay extra money for 2 games i already have, put the black box on steam already, VALVe! The rest of us want to play the beta too!

If the BB ever found its way to Steam, don't expect much change at all to the price. It was already said on the forums that HL2 and Ep1 are essentially "free" games in this package.

There is no black box as far as I know and I'd be VERY pissed if it was announced a week later or something.

If that happens, I'm going hunting with my hunting rifle I named "Betty"...



Except I don't have a hunting rifle... or know how to hunt...



So basically, I'm gonna do a whole-lot-of-nothing.

Unlike most people, I'm willing to not join in on the TF2 beta if it means I can save a couple bucks later by not re-buying HL2 and EP1.
