    Steam Community Out of BETA

It seems as though the Steam Community has just left its BETA stages and is now available for everyone. That is, if the message I received upon starting up Steam is to be believed or not.

If a news post is released on Steampowered, I will certainly update this news post. In the mean time, feel free to restart your Steam client to see if your Community awaits you. Keep in mind, the only official CS-Nation group is still open for business. Feel free to join up!

You don't have to use the community if you don't want to. I'm almost certain it's all optional and you can just never look at it outside of the first time.

            I had this problem :

So now I have to play with friends off in game... GG valve...

Also, trusting valve, I reset my BIOS settings and scanned my hard drive... wasted 2 hours for nothing...

I noticed there was no Friends button in the CS Source menu. So now, to chat with friends, I have to alt-tab out of game. And no, I'm not turning the HUD back on. It's annoying, to be honest, and it made games a lot less smoother.

If you're looking up friends, you wouldn't be able to actively play your game anyway... So...

It's impossible to use all hardware combinations for software testing, however, you could have opted-in to the beta to test it and see if your computer would run it ok. That's sort of what the beta was for. If the issue didn't arise during testing by anybody else or it wasn't reported, nobody knows to fix it before release.

Nah it's still in beta, otherwise the new features they are talkin about would be released and done with (choose your favorite map, favorite gun, custom CCS, etc.)

I think you've dogged around both points here...

First, having to alt tab out is a LOT slower than pressing escape... and also after a few alt tabs a lot of people still get the purple textures....

As for my point, are you suggesting it's my fault for not being in the beta?

I'm running XP pro, athlon 2500+ and ATI 9800pro, super standard stuff I think...

I know valve are good to support games so long after their release, and I'm sure this will get fixed, so no major harm done, my fault really for not having gone straight to the steam forums...

The steam community looks like it's going to be good!

In any case can't be any worse than DWP! lol
