GunGame 4 BETA

Hey, I'm only a week late, but it seems as though the GunGame crew has released version four of their script to the public for your testing pleasure. If you're an admin looking to spice up your server, perhaps GunGame is your cup of tea.



There is a forum thread where users can report any bugs they find in the version 4 BETA.

Most of the new features are for server admins, but players will notice increased performance on servers running version 4 vs. servers running version 3. The say commands and their displays have been improved drastically over version 3. While playing with this new script, keep in mind that it is still a BETA and even though we've done as much bug testing as we can possibly stand, more are bound to pop up. Report any bugs you find here and we will do our best to get them patched ASAP.

CS has really gone down the drain with all these deathmatch and gungame servers, what ever happend to normal gameplay, I'll be lucky to find one since almost all of the "normal" servers are full.

Yeah, I miss the normal gameplay. All the ones that aren't marked GG or CSSDM, are filled with bots, aim_* maps (Don't get me wrong, I enjoy them when the aim_ is right.), or full/empty.



I do enjoy the other game modes though, but it's nice when you can have a standard mature game of CS(S) without having admins running rampant with scripts and humoring themselves.

Well you had 8 years to play the game before Gun Game existed.

I can find "normal" servers a lot... but they usually end up being 24/7 dust2 servers.

If I had the money, I'd set up a CS:S server just how I like it. Too bad I don't have the money. =(

I go on militia searches every now and then, but always end up having to go to a dust2 or office server. At least there are servers with admins on most of the time though, so it could be worse. The worst problem is weeding out the bot servers late at night. I tried playing 1.6 but the hl1 engine on a 22" widescreen is a visual nightmare.

Yeah, but the update that added the bot count and doesn't count bots as players helped that a lot. (i.e. 5 bots in a server with no humans = Players: 0/18) It was such a great update. I wondered why they didn't do that to begin with.

I need to pay attention to updates more, I've just been connecting to a few of my favorites through xfire.

can always right click your servers tab, and add the filter for bots, so you will know if bots are in the servers or not, which is slowly becoming less helpful, as more and more servers use the stupid redirects. You know the ones, where the server looks like its almost full playing a good map, then you join and its almost empty playing some other crappy one. That redirect counts as a bot server, even tho the server you would join, isnt

Yeah, they need to disable redirects.
