    THQ Blasts Off With Steam

Another major developer has found its way onto Steam, and that company is none other than THQ. Yes ladies and gents, a number of games from THQ are being released today, with many more to come. The list of games coming to Steam, at present, is as follows.
    • Supreme Commander - (Strategy; developed by Gas Powered Games)

    • S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl - (Action; developed by GSC Game World)

    • Company of Heroes - (Strategy; developed by Relic Entertainment)

    • Titan Quest - (Role playing; developed by Lore Entertainment)

    • Titan Quest: Immortal Throne - (Role Playing; developed by Lore Entertainment)

    • Full Spectrum Warrior - (Action; developed by Pandemic)

    • Full Spectrum Warrior: Ten Hammers - (Action; developed by Pandemic)

    • Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War Gold Edition - (Strategy; developed by Relic Entertainment)

    • Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War: Dark Crusade - (Strategy; developed by Relic Entertainment)

    • Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War Platinum Edition - (Strategy; developed by Relic Entertainment)
Company of Heroes, Titan Quest, Titan Quest: Immortal Throne, Full Spectrum Warrior, and Full Spectrum Warrior: Ten Hammers are now on Steam, and will have a 10% purchase discount through July 24. More details can be found at Steamgames.com and in the press release.

Will we be able to play multi-player with/against non-Steam users in a game such as Dawn of War?

The Dawn of War games can currently be purchased in the UK for £10 ($20) each, Supreme Commander for £15 ($30) and STALKER, even when new, was/is £17($34).

The question on everyone's lips is: will THQ try to "do an Activision" and charge people two or three times the boxed price over Steam?

Downloading was lauded as a way to make games more secure and cheaper....so far it's been ripoff after ripoff. I'm still waiting for a major publisher to actually live up to the promise and use downloading as a way for the customer to SAVE money instead of expecting it to be a cash cow....

I'll actually add a rider to that and say that Valve games have been nice and cheap over Steam...but I don't count them as a publisher, only as developer.

Online content delivery has been successful for quite some time via alternative methods (not to mention more timely).

And the countdown to post removal starts . . . NOW!

Believe you me when I say this, Steam is a thousand times better than EA's Link, that piece of crap dies more times than I can count.

It's too bad I already have Stalker, but I'm lookin forward to Company of Heroes.

Company of heroes is quite fun in single player, I haven't tried online yet though.

Anyone know if any of these games will accept store-bought CD keys?

From what I've heard: No, they don't.

What about buying over Steam and playing with my friends who have the retail?

I think that should work... I'm almost certain that works with Civ4.

I now officially laugh at y'all who said steam was 'gonna be the worst thing ever' and how 'it's so bad !11one'.

Tbh, it's the best content distribution system to grace any platform. It's simple and it works =)

For sure, I like what they are doing with steam. I think online distribution will just get bigger especially if retail publishers and stores keep shying away from M rated games, and these big retail publishers putting games on steam can only serve to make steam bigger and better in the future.

You're forgetting the true best distribution system, which works for all platforms: going into a store and buying the game. Not only is it cheaper, you also get a hard, physical copy of the game for easier re-installment should you ever need it, it will get you the fuck off of your lazy fat arse and out into the real world for once, and when you're all done, you can trade the fucker in for credit/cash/discounts.

Also, Dawn of War is the only decent game on that list. Okay, so I've not played "Supreme Commander" to judge it, but anything made by a company called 'Gas Powered Games' has got to be shitty.

You sound so smart when you start rating games based on the publishers name.

'Valve'...umm is this a plumber service?

                            'iD'...wah...I thought D came before i?

Each of those quality publishers names could be ripped into...Do a bit of research on who actually created Supreme Commander before you continue making further shitty comments.
