I've never understood why. There's no way for custom content like this to actually give you an advantage except for green or orange overlay sprites replacing the sniper scopes, even then though that just gives you a minimal boost to clarity when scoping into dark areas of a map.



A while back I gave things a try like the 'transparent' textures and single-colour player models that fill the entire hitboxes, etc. Frankly it just made everything ugly and if anything, was harder to play with than without (mass distraction and total confusion somewhat counters being able to vaguely see the enemy team a bit clearer in dark maps...). Switched back to my usual custom stuff isntead after like, two games.

The server I run operates via "pure mode" and no one's complained yet.

The fact is, neon models and transparent textures are essentially cheats. If transparent textures weren't cheating or needed to be blocked, then there'd be no need to ban wallhack cheats or to block various cvars that enable transparent walls...



What is annoying to you is a God-send to some wannabe lamer. They really have no business in leagues given how they are cheats or means that break the rules of the game to gain an unfair advantage.
