    Straight from a Valve representative:

"The Steam version of TrackMania United is protected by Steam and not Starforce. Starforce is used by Focus for protection of TrackMania United's game specific data. The Steam version of Track Mania United does not include the copy protection drivers from Starforce. Therefore, any issues that might be associated with the copy protection drivers in Starforce do not apply in this case."

So it's there to encrypt their data, basically. No drivers, no harm done, exactly what I said in my first post in this thread.

And we're supposed to take StarForce at their word at that? I get the feeling you'd like to go to prison just so you could rush to the showers and bend over to pick up the soap.

They're lying, contemptable bastards and nothing associated with StarForce will ever touch my system again except in a ripped and repaired form.

No, we're not supposed to suddenly believe StarForce. But Valve? Sure, I'd take their word for it.

There are no drivers installed and the StarForce drivers are what caused so many problems. Put 2 and 2 together.....

At this point, I for one am not likely to believe Valve either.

You've been playing Counter-Strike 1.6 absolutely for free for almost a decade. Get over it if they want to make enough money to justify continuing to put resources towards supporting the game.

Yes, by all means, let's do put 2 and 2 together:

2 - StarForce created software that destroyed many gamers' hardware and, in many cases, their system integrity.

              +

2 - StarForce vehemently denied any such consequences for using their product and were subsequently taken to court via class-action lawsuit, along with UbiSoft, who publicly announced that they would no longer employ StarForce copy protection on their products.

              =

4 - StarForce creates and lies about the dangerous and unwanted effects of their products and are therefore not to be trusted in any way, shape or form.

How do we know their "encryption scheme" won't turn out to be malignant (as well as worthless in the prevention of piracy on this particular title)?

Why do you think Valve has to disclose that TMU has anyStarForce product within it? I'll tell you (because you're obviously a StarForce shill after all and will never admit it): For the same reason sex offenders have to register and declare their place of residence. They're KNOWN offenders and the public has the right to be aware of their presence. Just like StarForce.

              2+2=4

              Enjoy your figurative ass-raping, Lemon.

And you know for certain that they do NOT make money simply from selling the game?
