Valve on Game Head - CS2?

First off, get your mind out of the gutter! Secondly, I'm talking about the SpikeTV show, Game Head. This week, the show focused on none other than Valve. The show is broken down into four different segments, each focusing on a different area.
    • Segment 1 - An interview with Gabe Newell

    • Segment 2 - An interview with Erik Johnson (Episode 2)

    • Segment 3 - An interview with Kim Swift (Portal)

    • Segment 4 - An interview with Robin Walker (TF2); Back to Gabe for news on Counter-Strike 2 and Half-Life 3
Wait. Counter-Strike 2? Half-Life 3? Counter-Strike 2 with Episode 3? My mind just exploded! I might actually get to add a Counter-Strike 2 category to the site one day! The videos are broken up by other non-Valve portions. Either you have to grin and deal with these parts, or skip ahead. Your choice!

Hopefully CS2 will be good. Given the source debacle.

"We talked to alot of people, and they want episodec content, in as little amount of time as possible."

Good job on that part Gabe, hehehehehehehe.

I highly doubt they will make a HL3 after Episode 3, and I SERIOUSLY doubt they will make a CS2, that's just not happening, they made Source, now they're done.

I really want to stress people thinking outside the box on CS2, it doesn't need to be a graphical update with bug fixes. Its needs to be a new game based on the cs core idea. Lets face it they haven't actually made a cs game, they purchased cs and then they outsourced someone to make CZ, then they half-assed a engine switch to source.

I really think TF2 will be a measuring stick for what valve can do with a multiplayer game. And if TF2 is fun I will really be pumped to see what CS2 will be. These guys know how to make games, updating them is not so fun but a scratch made game from valve is always good, lets just hope they can make that magic in multiplayer as well.

Yes, that makes total sense. After this they will just give up and die, never making a new game and allowing their franchise's popularity to disappear into the annuals of gaming lore.

In other words, in some form or another CS2 and HL3 are a given... much like Half-Life 2 was a given, even if it took us forever to find out anything about it.

The CS2 vision became CS:Source, and that's where all the work went. Something fundamentally different from CS, a worthy successor... that's news at this point.

While the graphical intensity of Source does keeps many casual gamers from playing it even at this point, that isn't the main factor that keeps many of us die-hard fans of CS from liking it. Source looks better, but I have more fun and experience less bugs on the old engine. Either way, however, it would be erroneous to claim that no one at CSN likes Source. There's simply a notable portion of this community that happens to like vanilla CS better.

Here's hoping for vehicles in CS2.
