Update: Pictures of the "Illegal" Map

Remember the story of the student's act of terrorism that involved him making a Counter-Strike map based on his school? Really? It's only two news stories down, go check it out! It's crazy!



It seems as though some pictures of the map popped up on Flickr. We'll mirror them locally just in case they're removed for some silly reason.

The first thing I ever mapped was my house, and I thought about mapping my school but decided all the long corridors would be r_speed hell and play like shit.

I think the authorities really stepped over the line here. Unless of course he had substituted his knife model for a hammer (like the sinister one they found in his room!).

All I know is that kid is a pretty good artist. Judging by the screenies, it looks like it would be a decent map.



While I understand the issues with having a map based on a school, I think everybody overreacted here. And pinning him with a weapons charge because of the hammer??? PUUUUUHHHHLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEZE.



Valve should hire him.



I hope if somehow the map becomes public(with the WAD that's apparently needed), CS-Nation has what it takes to post, mirror and share the map with the uh, CS nation.

I had every intention of mirroring the map here. I downloaded it and attempted to run it but the wad error popped up. I even posted this news with the title being "Update: Download and pictures of the "illegal" map" but had to edit it as the map zip was without wad.

Does it state the missing .wad file or does it just crash CS?

Crashes and states that clhs.wad is missing... Evidently a custom wad for his high school, Clement High school.

he did a fair job on the map itself, it looks as though it could use some texture work.. but i like the painting, I only criticize the textures because that's what I was always finicky about when I did my high school (or should I say started it but then senioritis kicked into high gear.) Overall, I approve of what he's done to the map. It could use polish, but perhaps his final touches were for some reason halted...



edit: it also says b1 in the map name so that would explain it

Hey there are links for the map on the flickr site, i got the map here, but as you read the readme file it says that its different as the hl1 engine cant handle the map, i dont know if were allowed to post the linkds are we?, as i dont want to get banned!, i also cant test the map as i dont play cs 1 anymore and i dont have hl1 installed:/
