    TF2 2 Interview - PC and 360 together, no PS3

IGN recently had the honor of sitting down with Valve to talk up all things Team Fortress 2. Jealous? I know I am. They interview Robin Walker, Charlie Brown, and Doug Lombardi.
Charlie Brown:(sudden death mode is) really interesting because it changes the way people play, tactics are really different, classes people choose become entirely different, and it's just this switch of mentality that's kind of fun and ultimately gets us to where we want to be, which is resolution. One of the things that we're really trying to attack is the fact that people in these games enter this stalemate mode where there's no resolution in some of our older games like DoD for instance, you can play for 45 minutes and there isn't a resolution. We want to solve that problem.
But wait, there's more! It seems as though the Valve crew already have things working for PC to Xbox 360 multiplayer, but where's the PS3 gamer?
Doug Lombardi: The PS3 version is being done by EA over in the UK, and they don't have all the networking stuff in yet to do anything other than [pause] it's rending and running the games and whatnot, but they're still dropping in the network layers. They're going to be using a piece of code that EA uses for its PS3 multiplayer stuff. Chances are the PS3 version will only play other PS3s. There's zero chance of them talking to 360s.
So, while the 360 and PC gamers are off having a grand ol' time, the PS3 players will be off playing with themselves? Can I say that? It's been said. The interview spans four full pages, and provides a wealth of information that you probably didn't know about Team Fortress 2.

More interesting is how this was submitted by you after I posted it...

They never said how the classes don't involve skill... Care to cite the quote?

"One of the advantages of TF2, relative to something like Counter-Strike, is that it's not so much about aim. Some of the classes like the sniper it is about aim, but as an engineer or a heavy or spy, aim's not too important, it's more about the decisions you're making other than aim. I mean heavy has a big hose so you just have to keep people somewhere in the middle of the screen and they're going to take damage from you."

That's taken out of context. It's saying how each class has its own strengths. Snipers = aim, HW's = heavy, constant fire (as it's always been for them), engi = building, spy = stealth, etc.

Same as it was in TFC.

they shouldnt be trusting any portion of this game to EA even if it is just for the PS3 port. EA is simply incapable of producing quality titles.
