    CVG Does Team Fortress 2

What's this? More TF2 news on a Counter-Strike site? No way! Oh, you know that you love it. The TF2 love continues with a preview from Computer & Video Games.
The Medic earns a charge by healing players, and when that charge reaches 100%, the Medic and his team-mate can become invulnerable for ten whole seconds.

What this means, besides the start of the round featuring the kind of self-harm usually reserved for the toilets at a My Chemical Romance concert, is that an experienced Medic can be the most effective player on the team if paired with an equally skilled Heavy. While the Heavy dishes out massive damage with his Gatling gun, the Medic stays close and provides temporary invincibility. For ten seconds, they're an unassailable target, and all anybody else can do is simply take cover and hopefully pick off the Medic when he becomes vulnerable.
    Tasty.

To be fair, heavys were easy to kill anyway.... But this is just gonna be shit however for maps like Dustbowl if it ever gets remade....

I see this being much more effective for a medic-scout combo... 10 seconds of not being able to kill that zippy little bastard could easily decide a round in one fell swoop, seeing as even turret defenses would be completely unable to keep him from grabbing the flag... er, I mean documents. Sheesh, 10 seconds is nearly enough time to finish a capture in 2fort.

Let's just pray that this feature requires the user to perform more healing than Jesus did to activate -- otherwise I can imagine it severely upsetting the balance of play.

It'd make more sense if the medic was vulnerable and the invulnerability he was 'giving' lasted for 5 seconds after his death, or 10 seconds total, whichever is shorter.

I say this having never played Team Fortress in my life.

I have a feeling this "10 second invulnerability" thing will be scratched before release. It's simply a bad idea...

I think it will only work for players staying close to the medic, at least that's how I understand that sentence :
While the Heavy dishes out massive damage with his Gatling gun, the Medic stays close and provides temporary invincibility
Seeing how they made everything quite esay to understand visually, I hope they will render that with a nice protective bubble (à la alien ship shield in Independence Day).

I agree on the 10 seconds being too long in a fast paced game (as it should be). Let's hope they will tweak it if necessary.

But it could also be well balanced as is, after all it could replace the area denyability the Heavy had with his grenades (the big fragmenting one, that lasted for ages).

They said they removed explosives grenades, I don't know about the spikes the scout could throw on the ground to slow down people tracking him. I liked that booby-trap feature, bringing some variety to an otherwise quickly boring back-and-forth running to the flag.

The engineer had a powerful anti-explosive grenade, with the removing of other grenades it should compensate for the medic-heavy combo in dustbowl I suppose.

Either they scrap the 10 second invincibility or lower the time of it.

Rizzuh doesn't come here anymore. Zips would have to do an April Fools Joke and--Ah hah.. hah.. ha.... That'd be just ridiculous.

Why isn't Zips defending Valve tooth and nail here? Is he sick? Someone should really check on him, I'm worried.

Or maybe it's just a weird sort of April Fools joke? Just tell me you're feeling okay.
