Toblo. GDC 2007. Award winner. Those three, short statements basically sum up the entire news post I'm about to make. Alright, so I had completely forgotten that Toblo was up for an award at this year's GDC. Subsequently, when I shot an email to rizzuh earlier about a small site tweak I had in mind, I failed to realize he was rubbing elbows with some of the big dogs in the gaming industry. It took a quick jaunt to Kotaku to remember that Toblo was up for an award, and guess what?

In addition, the IGF Student Showcase recognized ten student-designed games and, for the first time ever, awarded a $2,500 Best Student Game prize. The award went to DigiPen Institute of Technology's fast-paced capture the flag game, Toblo.Congratulations to the entire Toblo team for the achievement, and additional congratulations to Toblo team member Steve Chiavelli for the little matter of receiving a "yes" when he popped the question during his acceptance speech.
