Ads tend to be the only source of revenue that keeps this site running... We don't sell a product, so we're given a wee bit more leeway when it comes to advertisement usage. Just the same as any website.

Anyways... I don't mind the ads at the moment. I really am curious on how Portal, TF2 and EP2 will look. That artwork of that car looked pretty Crowbar-Kicking Ass Sweet =D

For those of you who know what ESEA is, that's stopped working since the ads were introduced. And tons of players are pissed off.

Any company that offers free (websites, TV stations) or significantly reduced-priced (magazines) products/services has every right to use those products/services to advertise. It's called a business model.



Valve already has a sweet business model. Believe it or not, 1.6 still gets them tons of recurring revenue (even when you disregard the low new sales).



What they're doing now is just greedy.

I'm still hoping this is part of a master plan to make people stop playing 1.6 and then releasing cs2 which of course is the game we will all love until ea buys valve then patches the game to an unbalanced piece of crap. Valve your going up on my shit list, but still no where near EA.

Agreed. With websites, they either provide all content free, or a portion of it, while the "Premium" content costs money. That where ads are acceptable. If I got CS free, and had ads, I wouldn't mind. I paid for CS, so I should still get ads...? It's almost like buying a DVD with commercials.
