For our high skilled game developers, it would be reaaalllly hard to replace the voice codec in 1.6 too. Unfortunately they don't have time to press control+c in the cs source work dir and control+v in the 1.6 directory.
Here we come again, Ventrilo.

You know, as someone who only plays matches or deathmatch, I really like this change for voice quality. Cus when I used to play 1.6, sometimes during scrims, people would talk ingame a little bit on mic, even if we were on ventrilo at the same time. And then years and years later if I watched that demo, it was actually fun because you could listen to people talking!
Ok, I guess that's kinda random.. But I'm sure somewhere out there is gonna like it for that reason too!Comment

Only thing my team uses in-game voice for is either making our voices sound distorted (Saying our stupid phrases over the distorted codec sound even more stupid, making it more funny.), talking to each other about petty things during a scrim or match (So as to not clutter the vent channel so the persons alive can still hear fine.), or raging pubbers because its fun.
It's interesting to hear how people's voices differ in-game from a clearer codec such as the Ventrilo ones. We have several Scottish and British members and you can barely detect their accents on the in-game mic.Comment
