... Right now that is the plan.

But what do you have against persons who want to make a little money back on their time and experience, especially for an undertaking this massive in scale?

Never, ever, ever, ever charge money for anything in your life.

That drink of yours? I want it. Free. I'll take your food, too, free of course. That job that you work at? I'll take your salary, thank you. If you collect anything, I'll take that too. What? Pay? Why would I wanna do that?

I'm also going to take all the video games you own, your computer, and your internet account. Don't bother looking for financial reimbursement, it won't be there.

Because, after all, everything you own, that you've ever worked for, everything you've ever put effort into at all to acquire or create, belongs to everyone, free of charge, right?

            ~

If it's gonna be free, I might donate 5 to 15 dollars anyway. It looks like it'd be worth it.

yea thats an idea, instead of charging us for it they should just putt a donation button in some corner... im not rich or anything but i would still try and give em something since they seem to have work hard on this...

This is one mod I would pay for.

So much time, effort and personal sacrifice has been put into it and to see the developers not making something from it would be doing an injustice to them.

So are they re-recording, adding to, or using the old speech files? I should look harder but I have sand in my eyes.

It said they're recruiting for voice actors, so I'd say they're making new ones.

I'd apply, I have a great voice, and I can act, but my mic is crappy.

Once again Thortok hits the nail on the head. I don't like being asked to pay for things that I previously received for free, but I don't mind a group of guys asking for a nominal fee for recreating and updating an entire single-player game from scratch. The amount of their lives dedicated to this project has got to be huge.

That said, even if they release it for free, it might be a good investment of time for a few of them. Assuming this turns out as well as we're all hoping, having "Black Mesa: Source" on your resumé has to look good if you're shooting for a career in this field.

Whenever it is released, I'm pretty sure there will be a flood of both incredibly positive and incredibly negative feedback. On the one hand, this is an opportunity for all of us to see what HL:S could have been. On the other hand... they're taking creative license with this, and you know how this community reacts to any deviation from what they're used to... :)
