    Half-Life 2: Orange

Of all the names they could have selected, they went with Orange. What am I talking about? Good question. I'm talking about the new name for Half-Life 2's console package.
Additionally, the Half-Life 2: Episode 2 bundle to feature the original game, its first two episodic installments, Team Fortress 2 and Portal appears to have been renamed the far less confusing Half-Life 2: Orange. Given Half-Life's last appearance on consoles was the late-blooming Half-Life 2 on Xbox, the name shuffle makes sense; anybody out of the loop wouldn't know what Episode 2 means. Chances are the PC version will retain its original title.
Half-Life 2: Orange will contain the original (but graphically updated) Half-Life 2, Episode 1, Episode 2, Portal, and Team Fortress 2 when it hits the consoles at some point in the future. But really, Orange? Personally, I was rooting for Grapefruit.

They should have called it Half Life 2: Reduced Framerate for ultimate victory.

I assume by "graphically updated" they mean HDR for Half Life 2 the main game? Will we PC owners ever see this? I replay the single player on a regular basis still, and an HDR update for us PC owners would be nice too :)

If the original receives a full HDR upgrade on the 360 release, I don't see why they wouldn't release it on the PC. The comments about the amount of bandwidth it would cost seem rather moot now that they're releasing games that are upwards of 7GB in size via Steam.

Steam seems to be paying for itself with the billion games that have been released on it in the past year. I doubt bandwidth is a concern... however, increasing the system requirements would probably not be a wise move, especially for low-end users who are barely playing the game as it is.

Not a big deal for me if they don't update the original game, since I personally don't use HDR anyway.

The requirements wouldn't go up at all if they aren't going to use HDR. They'd probably even make it like an optional download, sort of like the "hi-def" weapons pack for Blue Shift.

I could have sworn that even if HDR isn't isn't used, the maps still take a bit more rendering power... although I don't really have proof of that I guess. An optional download would make sense, especially for people who don't want to download content they don't plan on using.

Hmm, what a simple name they choose for Portal.

Orange?...what? Since when did valve mistake half life 2 for a game like Viva Pinata? And even Viva Pinata is a better name...

Quoted to reflect my agreeance and concurrent feelings. I still play it every month or so. It's a great game, isn't it?

So is this coming out for the PS3? Cause..

                              "Gameinformer:What about the PS3?

Gabe Newell: The PS3 is a total disaster on so many levels, I think It's really clear that Sony lost track of what customers and what developers wanted. I'd say, even at this late date, they should just cancel it and do a "do over". Just say, "This was a horrible disaster and we're sorry and we're going to stop selling this and stop trying to convince people to develop for it". The happy story is the Wii. I'm betting that by Christmas of next year, the Wii has a larger installed base than the 360. Other people think I'm crazy. I really like everthing that Nintendo is doing. "
