Grimbal wrote..CS1.6 has more players than CS: Source. Thus more ad impressions.
One thing i dont get tho is why would valve want company's to advertise there old HL 1 engine instead of the new source engine?
It would seem a step in the wrong direction to me anyone else?
Dude, you've defused a Dell

If the gameplay is so bad, why are you still playing the game?
Maybe they should fix bugs and improve gameplay first before shoving ads down our throats ?
Seriously...
Wii is currently outselling all of it's competitors, not just because of price, but because the games are fun, they're a blast to play, and are the most underpowered of all of the current "next-gen" consoles, counter-strike, honestly, still is fun, otherwise you wouldn't be playing any version of it at all.
I still go back and play old marios, zeldas, final fantasies, and a lot of classic games. Why? Because it's been anywhere up to 20 years and these games are still fun, hell one day I played pong against a friend of mine and hadn't had fun like that in a long time!
That's right, I compared Counter-Strike to Pong...deal with it.Comment

Don't be stupid peagle, you know damn well what he is saying.
A third-party developer should fix the bugs in someone elses game? I find your ideas intriguing and wish to subscribe to your newsletter.
We wait years and years for fixes to our game, they don't answer the call.
They hear money can be mooched out of 1.6 more and they run the fuck to the bank to cash in.
Adding more maps for the reason only to advertise to us is more donkeypunch action to 1.6 players.Comment

Really? also, there will be ads on the scoreboard and other places on the interface , these will appear while playing on cvt_dust2005j too.
What the companies are forgetting is that most of these "minutes" spent playing CS are usually on maps that are no default. So basically they are going to get ripped off.Comment

If we are going to be subjected to adverts for a game most of us have paid many many times over, they better fix the god damned bugs.Comment

On peagles comment about a third party developer "fixing things".
Turtle Rock Studios is the development firm that unlocked certain aspects of VIP code in the Source SDK so that VIP Mod development could finish. This is a third party developer is it not?
Basically that VIP code was already there, just not in-use, nor accessable to developers.
So that doesn't mean it's not possible.Deletable_Man wrote..
And this is the attitude that prevents me from playing CS and CSS on a regular basis, too many people think that all maps that aren't dust2 and office aren't good. When most of the time, they don't even give the other maps a chance...ever. By the time you find that second server, you could have had that custom map downloaded!
These maps will be thrown out of the community like all new official maps (because they suck).Comment

I used to go to a shop, it had all sorts of neat products and ideas and it made customers happy.
If the gameplay is so bad, why are you still playing the game?
Now that shop sold out to a big conglamorate and sells shitty products fueled by advertisers but i'll still shop there because I like the way it feels and I hope against hope that they will see where they have went wrong and learn from their mistakes, go back to their roots and make their customer base happy again.
Was that a good enough analogy ?
I hope they will fix the game some day.Comment

If you do not like Valve's marketing techniques, what better way of sticking it to them is there than not playing the game? There are plenty of other games out there. Now stop crying and realize these two things:
1. That's the business world.
2. That's life.
Deal with it, complaining is useless.Comment
