I'm all the way over in Norway and it works here now. It took a while to get logged in though...

Data center's redundant systems only last so long, the one major one here's backup generator only lasts a maximum of 6-12 hours.
Now while it is one mishap, it is in no way small, steam is a digital content delivery service provider for millions of people world wide, and this "mishap" has probably cost valve a few hundred thousand dollars in potential sales. The lack of redundant login systems throughout their many many content servers is what the real problem is, not the fact that it went down. How the content servers if one stops working for you it just forwards to another, they should have a similar system for their logins.Comment

VAC is very unreliable, I still would prefer a hooking block client side over a detection method, Cheating-Death will never die in my heart!
Oh and the how would xfire work? There are such things as graphical overlays that don't have to rely on the graphics engine of a game, in fact if Xfire would establish itself in this way in the first place there really wouldn't that "problem"
PS. Those of you who have servers: Dust2 and office are not the only fucking maps in CS/CS: Source, MAKE A REAL MAP ROTATION!
Anyway, my rant is over.

But dust2 is one of the only maps worth pubbing on. Office blows, but there's also mill and nuke. That's pretty much it.
