Prey is 5-6 months old already and they want to sell it for $50? BF2142 dropped from $50 to $25 in about a month. I agree Prey is a good game although multiplayer didn't seem to catch on. Maybe with steam promoting it it will catch on. $20 from Amazon or EBgames is a good deal to me so I'll probably get it from there.

They want to have it sell for $50 everywhere, even brick and mortar stores, but ... stores like to sell at a loss to entice people to buy other goods while they're there. I assume that once HH/3DR/2K say that it's ok to lower the price via Steam, Valve will do so, but they can't do that until the developer says that's what they want.

Because game development is hard work with long LONG hours and the developers get underpaid to do it. On top of that they have to listen to the whiney demands of thankless children like you.
I'd happily pay good money direct to a developer, as I have done for Episode 1 and DEFCON. I won't pay over the odds for something I could walk into town and buy for half the price.
