Okay, The Ship technically has four free days coming up for those who have wanted to try out the game but were unsure about buying it. What's that you say? You need more information? Well, if you insist.

The Free Full Game Trial of The Ship casts off Thursday, November 2 at 1 pm PDT and will conclude on Sunday, November 5 at the same time.



Built with Source technology, The Ship is the critically acclaimed debut from Outerlight, a UK-based studio.

I've been wanting to try this out for a long time. I don't see why they never just released a one map demo so people could see if it's their cup of tea whenever they want, because you have people who are retarded like me who will download the game for the free weekend and then not play it (here's looking at you Red Orchestra).



I like the free weekends though. I just think that it would help to have a demo. mp_beach made me by RTWC (man that level was probably my favorite level of all time), 2fort made me by Counter-Strike, the three level Quake 3 demo made me buy it, etc.



edit: and no, that's not a typo about 2fort making me buy CS. I had been an R6 and Rogue Spear player and then saw how good the netcode was for the Half-Life (quake) engine and bought CS.

It's a really fun game and I've been totally against the whole $ for mods thing but hey if it works for them it's all good. I won't buy it though. I don't think a lot of people will either.

omgomgz, HL1 version of the Ship was a mod, but now it's a standalone game that just happens to be running on the Source engine.
