Four From 2K Headed to Steam

Just announced from Valve, Valve and 2K are teaming up to bring the world at least four titles from 2K, the publishing label behind Take-Two Interactive.
2K develops and publishes front line PC, console and hand held entertainment software, with a strong presence in strategy, sports and high profile licensed titles. Steam is the only full-featured broadband platform for the delivery and management of games and digital content, and has pioneered its broadband services to over 10 million customers with core and casual games from today's leading publishers and developers.

"We are excited to add Valve to our roster of partners in the digital distribution area," said Paul Crockett, Strategic Sales and Licensing, 2K. "Being included in their vast network will assist us in expanding the reach of our products to a much larger audience."

PC versions of Sid Meier's Civilization IV, Sid Meier's Civilization III, Shattered Union and Sid Meier's Pirates! will be available later this week via Steam. Details regarding future 2K titles available via Steam will be announced at a later date.
You can find more information over at the Steamgames site, or the Take-Two Interactive Software website.

Wow, I can't wait to purchase these games off of Steam at the significantly discounted prices Valve had raved about for so many months before Steam's release.

Valve doesn't select the prices, the developers do. Head on over to their sites to pump out the sarcasm. :)

BTW: Prey was published by 2K and was previously distributed on the now dead, Triton system...

            ... Something to think about.

Yes. Hint: it went gold 5 days later.

The mind boggles at the fact that the developers choose games that have been out for ages anyway, and cost about 3 times as much on Steam as a boxed retail version does....ah well, their loss I suppose

I'm sure Valve are positively creaming at the dolla' that they get for bringing this junk to steam.

Crappy old games and crappy new games.

I was just thinking today.... I would LOVE to see the sales statistics of how many people buy these games from Steam.

What does that have to do with anything? I'm just saying that Prey is published by 2K and that 2K used an online distribution method in the past. Now, 2K is with Steam another online distribution system. So I was thinking out loud there that Prey may come to Steam at some point. Maybe I didn't make that clear.

I've loved Steam ever since it went betaeven with the bugs, etc., but now I feel myself despising it as it has just become a marketing tool.

Speaking of Civilization, I'm thinking of buying Civilization Anthology or whatever since I've never played Civilization. I could just buy Civ IV for 30 bucks from gogamer, but I kind of want to play Civ II and III, plus I can give away the older games to get people hooked on them that I think might get hooked. Also the card game sounds kind of cool to me.

70 bucks doesn't sound too bad to me, but then I tell myself that I'm planning on buying a ps2 when it drops to $100 (black Friday), and that's nearly the price of the fucking console. Shadow of the Colossus how I've longed for you...
