    CPL Announces CS World Champions

Angel Munoz has just passed along word that the Cyberathlete Professional League has unveiled their list of the Counter-Strike World Champions. The list dates back to 2000 with e9 (Sweden) having taken top honors. The latest addition to the list, of course, is from 2005 where Schroet Kommando (Sweden) took it all. The next team to appear on the list will be determined at this year's 2006 Championship Finals, taking place December 16-20.
Last month the CPL announced all past CPL one-versus-one World Champions. Now, the CPL is pleased to announce all of the Counter-Strike World Champions. The list of Counter-Strike Champions dates back to 2000, when the CPL officially began hosting team-based tournaments with Counter-Strike.

The CPL’s first official Counter-Strike tournament was hosted at the Babbage's CPL Event in 2000. The Swedish team e9 won this first and only CS event of the year, crowning them the 2000 CPL Counter-Strike Champions.

I guess the reason why sweedish players are better at CPL and american teams like 3d are better at CAL-I is because you can't hack at the CPL...

You know, I normally don't get involved with CAL or CPL talk, cause I usually don't pay enough attention to it to consider myself well-informed, but this is just boneheaded. Even I, with my lack of interest recall this little tidbit of news a few years back: http://csnation.net/viewnews.php/5537/. That was 3D winning the (Winter) CPL. (I believe that hissing noise you're hearing is your inflated ego losing some air.)

IIRC it wasn't that Swedish internet is better, but that Sweden is much smaller in comparison to the USA, so ping differences are much lower.

And it's probably easier for them to play against other top teams from other countries, where it's difficult for us in the US to play against top teams, since we're spread out across a large continent.
